It was flown to Kwajalein for the Operation Crossroads nuclear tests in the Pacific, but was not chosen to make the test drop at Bikini Atoll. After the war, the Enola Gay returned to the United States, where it was operated from Roswell Army Air Field, New Mexico. Clouds and drifting smoke resulted in Nagasaki being bombed instead. Enola Gay participated in the second atomic attack as the weather reconnaissance aircraft for the primary target of Kokura. The bomb, code-named "Little Boy", was targeted at the city of Hiroshima, Japan, and caused unprecedented destruction. On 6 August 1945, during the final stages of World War II, it became the first aircraft to drop an atomic bomb. The Enola Gay is a Boeing B-29 Superfortress bomber, named for Enola Gay Tibbets, the mother of the pilot, Colonel Paul Tibbets, who selected the aircraft while it was still on the assembly line.

While business was quiet at the beginning, with owners loosing money, the bar represented the start of things to come. The gay village was 'willed into existence' in the late 1980s in response to amendments to section 28 laws that had previously prohibited the promotion of homosexuality in schools. Manchester's gay village is one of the best places to visit, whether you're planning a night out or just fancy exploring the legendary Canal Street area. Zachary Quinto and Lukas Gage are completely brilliant and deliver the dark humour with a real dose of realistic absurdity we look into episodes of that same absurdity in our own lives and suddenly that chaos can be all to real. The dialogue is pitch perfect and a lot of it is delivered with speed and throw away lines - a lot of the lines are written for a gay audience with references to "Flowers In The Attic" or "Beaches" that will resonate with gay and straight audiences alike. Yes of course it brings to light in vivid beautifully bright colours the gay quandries of modern gay life and at the same time illustrates the human condition that all human souls suffer. After a fest run, “Match” will make its U.S. But it’s well crafted and cast to a sum effect that’s consistently engaging, if not quite memorable. Shot in Puerto Rico, this leisurely tale offers no great surprises in the way it considers the relationship between cultural machismo and the closeted life, or in its eventual turn toward tragedy. Life gets complicated for two best friends in Havana when they begin to acknowledge a same-sex attraction between them in “The Last Match,” a solid drama from director/co-scenarist Antonio Hens (“Clandestinos”). Here's a great review from Variety: Although it offers no great surprises, this leisurely tale of two best friends who develop a mutual attraction is a well-crafted, engaging effort. Only disappointment is that the movie, set in Havana, is actually shot in Puerto Rico, though the director does a great job at convincing us that it is Cuba. I really love this movie! Dicks of both cute lead actors, though not in an exploitative manner. Mean Girls has become such a memorable film in popular culture that it's surprising that it was remade, but given the success of the musical, if any film can hold up to its original, it's this one.Ĭast Zendaya, Josh O'Connor, Mike Faist One of the original Plastics did make a brief appearance, however, with Lindsay Lohan making a Mean Girls cameo, with the Cady from the 2004 original playing the moderator of the mathematics competition. Not only did Fey play Miss Norbury again, but the Mean Girls remake also saw Tim Meadows reprising his role as Principal Duvall. While the majority of the main characters have been recast, which makes sense given them being high schoolers, there are some from the original who are returning for the remake. Mean Girls is remembered in the LGBTQ+ community for many reasons, but especially for Damian, portrayed by Jaquel Spivey in the 2024 remake. 2024's Mean Girls is an adaptation of the musical, which ran from 2018 to 2020 on Broadway. ![]() ![]() ![]() The remake of the classic teen comedy Mean Girls was released in January, with writer Tina Fey rebooting the film twenty years after the original.
